Man United had scouts in attendance, watching striker Benjamin Sesko this weekend.

Manchester United Football Club are absolutely going to be in the market to sign a new striker this summer. It seems like Harry Kane remains atop that transfer wishlist.

However, any club with any brain will do their due diligence and look elsewhere, in case their first choice option isn’t a realistic one.

Benjamin Sesko is a striker United were linked with before the turn of the year, after the RB Salzburg man put in some impressive performances for club and country. However, a move to RB Leipzig was agreed, due to the close relationship between the two clubs. At the time, that seemingly ended all hope for the Red Devils.

Well, 90min.com believe United haven’t quite given up the chase just yet. The Reds, along with Newcastle, had ‘scouts in attendance’, watching the talented 19-year-old striker just last weekend.

Sesko scored in a 2-0 win away at Sturm Graz, continuing his great form, hitting eight goals in his last seven league appearances.

The Slovenian is ‘one of several’ options Ten Hag is looking at in the striker position, representing a much cheaper option than both Kane and Victor Osimhen.

The eventual buyer of Sesko would be negotiating directly with Leipzig, who could make a substantial profit on the young striker before he even kicks a ball for his new club.

It feel like a real long-shot, with any buyer likely having to blow Leipzig out of the water with a massive offer if they want to get a deal done before the 2023/24 season.

Personally, a move for a proven elite level striker at this point feels like the smarter piece of business, with Sesko someone the Red Devils could move for in another couple of seasons.
