For manchester United, this international break was supposed to be a time to get players back from injury. Instead, it seems as though the problems are only mounting for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Last night, Daniel James was playing for his beloved Wales as they took on Croatia. However, during the game, the speedy winger was involved in a hefty collision…
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 21-year-old was knocked out – handing United another injury concern less than a week until the Reds host Liverpool in a huge Premier League game.
James received medical treatment on the field and was lay down for a while. What I find remarkable is that the player was allowed to continue. With a head injury, that’s just shocking.
For any Americans amongst us, or any fans of the NFL, they’ll know how serious head injuries are treated State-side – and it should be that way everywhere in the world. Unfortunately, though, football hasn’t adapted in that regard. Playing with a concussion is just a disaster waiting to happen.
Hopefully, James is feeling better today. Thankfully, he does have a week to fully recover but as of right now, I’m not convinced he’ll be fit and ready to go – which would be a massive shame as he has been by far and away our best attacker this term.
