Manchester United Football Club has been handed a boost in pursuit of Lazio midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, as the Serie A side are closing in on his potential replacement. That’s what Corierre dello Sport says, translated by The Metro.
Apparently, Lazio have identified Fabian Ruiz from Real Betis as Milinkovic-Savic’s replacement, who Jose Mourinho apparently sees as the ideal acquisition to play alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic,
Obviously, the Italian side wants to keep ahold of the 23-year-old, but if the Red Devils come in with a colossal transfer offer, Lazio would have no choice but to take the money.
I think it’s clear that United’s midfield needs some improving, particularly due to the fact that Michael Carrick is retiring in the summer, and Marouane Fellaini still hasn’t committed to a new deal at Old Trafford.
Milinkovic-Savic is up and coming, with huge potential to grow into an elite modern-day midfielder. He’d certainly cost a pretty penny, and no doubt there would be competition aplenty for his signature, but I’d be disappointed if Mourinho didn’t make a solid effort to land a player who’d slot into United’s midfield seamlessly.
