Man United handed early derby day boost as City key man to miss clash: report

Manchester United have a huge week coming up. Three away games are on the horizon, including tough fixtures against both Juventus and Manchester City.

It could well determine Jose Mourinho’s managerial future, with the self-proclaimed Special One hoping to come away from this week having moved up the table somewhat.

Derby day is always a tense affair. Before the huge clash, United have been handed a major boost, with the brilliant Kevin de Bruyne set to miss the game as he’s picked up another injury. The BBC say that the Belgium international could be out of action for up to six weeks.

At this point, we’ll take any help we can get. The game itself could become embarrassing if both sides play the way they have been to start this season, with City still unbeaten at this point – and looking difficult to score against, nevermind pick up points against…

The bad news? De Bruyne will likely be replaced by Bernardo or David Silva. They’ll still likely be just as dangerous, but it does give Mourinho one less problem to worry about.

Hopefully, United can put in a decent display and repeat the 3-2 come-from-behind victory that occurred last time out at The Etihad Stadium…
