Manchester United’s pursuit of Harry Maguire has been well documented over the last week or so. The latest story we covered came from Sky Sports News, with the Red Devils seeing their £70million bid for the centre-half rejected.
Today’s update comes from The Sun, who claim that Leicester ‘fear’ they’re going to lose the 26-year-old Maguire this summer, as they eye a move for Brighton centre-back, Lewis Dunk.
Apparently, Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a move for Dunk, or Burnley’s James Tarkowski as potential replacements for Maguire should he leave the King Power this summer.
Both United and City will see this as a potential boost in their pursuit of the English centre-half, as Leicester must think there’s a real possibility they may lose Maguire – or else they wouldn’t be hunting a replacement.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, United should just pay the Maguire asking price and get the deal done as soon as possible. The Reds jet out on pre-season tour this coming Sunday, how nice would it be if the one they call ‘Slab head’ is aboard the plane with his new teammates?
Obviously, that’s easier said than done and the fees being quoted are rather astronomical. But, the point still stands, United need at least one new centre-half this summer and for me Maguire would be perfect.
