Man United have eyes on Chelsea’s attacking midfielder, Mason Mount.

Manchester United Football Club are always evolving and adapting under Erik ten Hag. That’s one of his many strengths as a manager, despite him being in charge for a relatively short period of time.

As we approach the summer, the gaffer is no doubt strategising and planning the best players to bring in during this window. Several positions seem to be priority – a striker, a midfielder and another centre-half.

For the midfield spot, Jude Bellingham is the name that everyone is after. However, bringing him in will be easier said than done…

Mason Mount was linked with a potential Old Trafford switch earlier this week.

Now, the Englishman’s name is back in the headlines again. This time, it’s The Guardian with the story. The fact that a second media outlet has picked up on United interest in Mount leads me to believe there’s certainly some truth in it.

Apparently, United ‘have added’ the 24-year-old to their list of attacking midfield targets going into the summer. The Guardian add that Bellingham is atop that list, though the club needs other options should he prove to be too expensive.

It’s stated that Mount could be available for about £50m this summer, due to the fact he’d have just a year left on his contract.

The reason for contract talks stalling is that Mount is a relatively low earner at Chelsea, fetching home £75,000-a-week. He wants to be paid on par with the rest of his high-earning teammates.

I don’t mind Mount. I think he’d be a decent addition as a squad player at best. I don’t believe he’d start games regularly here at the Theatre of Dreams, but he’d certainly offer something in a variety of different midfield roles.
