Man United have agreed terms to sell Noam Emeran in a permanent deal.

Manchester United’s squad is now starting to take shape for the season. Things are looking pretty bleak for Erik ten Hag when it comes to further signings, though.

The gaffer is in a situation where he has to sell before he can buy. I think it’s safe to assume the big-name stars, whose heads are on the chopping block, are not attracting sufficient interest.

Hence, it seems Ten Hag is looking to clear the decks at younger level, letting those players he does not believe are good enough, leave permanently.

There was talk about a possible deal involving Noam Emeran heading to Gronigen yesterday.

Now, those stories have been backed up, and added to, by the Manchester Evening News. According to their report, United have now ‘agreed a deal’ to sell the 20-year-old starlet this summer.

Emeran, a winger, will head to Gronigen in a permanent deal. Competition is fierce at United, hence why the club are willing to sanction this sale.

United will have a sell-on clause on Emeran, meaning they will financially benefit if the winger goes on to enjoy further success in his young career.

Despite an impressive pre-season Emeran has never made a senior matchday squad for United. That opportunity clearly wasn’t going to come this season, either.

The verdict

It’s always sad to see highly regarded players depart. Though United didn’t have much of a choice here. Emeran is just far too down the pecking order to make a meaningful impact. Even if he went out on loan this season, the best he was going to get is a pre-season opportunity. Then rinse and repeat.

I’d imagine the fee is minimal, but it does clear some wages off the books, while United continue to look to generate as much money as possible for Ten Hag to spend during this window.
