Man United are keeping an eye on emerging Rangers centre-back, Leon King.
Manchester United Football Club are a side that always have eyes on the future. The Reds have never shied away from giving youth a chance – and long may that continue.
Loads of teenagers have been training with the first-team ahead of the Omonia Europa League game on Thursday.
When it comes to the transfer market, United have always been better at signing teenagers and nurturing their talents, rather than spending big on marquee signings. It’s a mantra that the 20-time Premier League champions absolutely have to get back to.
It does seem as though Erik ten Hag is looking to do exactly that, with the latest transfer information from Fabrizio Romano absolutely reaffirming that belief.
He believes that United are amongst the clubs who have ‘already sent’ their scouts to watch an emerging centre-back, who currently plies his trade for Rangers; Leon King.
King, who is only eighteen years old, started at Anfield against Liverpool last week, as his stock within the global game continues to rise.
Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on a potential Man United move for Leon King here:
The young man is slowly seeing his minutes increase for Rangers, though there’s no doubt that the Scottish outfit is big believers in his talent and ability. You watch him play and it’s pretty easy to see why.
At that age, there’s always risk involved when it comes to transfers, though with a winding down contract, it feels like a gamble worth taking. King would likely be a relatively cheap addition for the eventual winner of his signature.
You’d have to feel good about United’s chances of getting this deal done if it does turn out to be a straight race between them, Newcastle and Leeds.
