It finally seems as though things are picking up on the transfer front for Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes’ name has been on the back pages for practically the whole summer, but now the Red Devils may well have got their man.

The story comes from Football Insider, who claim that United have had a bid accepted for the Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder, with the 24-year-old set to head to England next week in order to finalise a move to Old Trafford.

Furthermore, Sporting have accepted a bid for lower than Fernandes’ release clause, with Football Insider claiming a deal worth over £60million has been agreed after extensive talks.

Any player who scores 32 goals and picks up 18 assists, from midfield no-less, is worth their salt. Fernandes had a stunning 2018/19 campaign and it’s no surprise that there are ‘bigger teams’ vying for his signature.

The question remains as to whether Fernandes can adapt and adjust to life in the Premier League. It’s a big step up and I’ve no doubt that the Portuguese will succeed in time, but don’t expect an immediate impact from the midfield maestro.

Now that the midfield is sorted it’s now down to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to go out there and fix the defence by adding a top-quality centre-back. Oh, how I’d love to see Harry Maguire make his way up North to the red half of Manchester…
