Man United have apparently reached out to Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag.
There’s no doubt that behind the scenes, Manchester United Football Club will be working tirelessly to explore all avenues in regards to their new manager.
As we all know, Ralf Rangnick is only on a contract until the summer. No doubt the German himself will have his say on who should be hired.
One name that seems to be popping up more frequently in regards to the summer position is Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman, aged 52, could well be on the move this summer.
Now, according to the usually reliable Jonathan Shrager, it’s stated that United have ‘contacted’ the manager, as they look to ‘find out about his situation’. No doubt this is United putting the tentative feelers out, to try and grasp whether he’ll actually be available in a few months’ time.
There’s no firm knowledge as to which way United are leaning at the moment, but it does seem like Ten Hag is definitely in contention.
Again, this feels like United just doing their due diligence and making sure that Ten Hag is available should they want to head in that direction,
To me, Ten Hag feels like an excellent fit. It is worth noting he’ll need time to implement his ideas and tactics, though – and United simply cannot expect to see an instant impact and change in fortunes as soon as he walks through the door.
Fans, whoever is hired, will have to be patient. It can take a couple of years to overhaul a squad and playing style. Just ask Jurgen Klopp, who certainly didn’t have it easy when he first took charge of Liverpool.
