Man United have entered into serious negotiations to sign Harry Kane this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have finished as Premier League runners-up this season, indicating progress is being made.
However, the gap to Manchester City still feels like a rather large one. It’s down to The Glazers, our Baby Faced Assassin and those players to push hard for a title next season.
Big money is going to have to be spent this summer, that much is obvious. A centre-half, top-class midfielder and a right-winger would be atop my wishlist. However, it seems as though despite Edinson Cavani’s contract extension, United are intent on pursuing a move to sign Harry Kane.
Apparently, United have ‘entered into serious negotiations’ with the 27-year-old’s representatives regarding a contract thought to be worth £300,000-a-week. The Reds, along with City and Chelsea are interested in signing the Spurs star. That’s according to Ian McGarry, speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast.
Check out what Ian McGarry had to say here:
“Now, Harry Kane confirmed our story by representatives briefing the media on Monday that Kane has asked to leave Tottenham and also that United, City and Chelsea are interested in signing him,” McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast.
“Our information is that United are the only club so far that have entered into serious negotiations with Kane representatives regarding a contract, which could be worth around £300,000-a-week, a substantial upgrade on what he earns at Tottenham Hotspur.”
Players like Kane don’t come around very often. We’re talking about the most prolific striker in the Premier League over the last few years.
The Englishman has scored goals galore season-in-season-out and there’s no doubt he’d improve this United side. However, with Daniel Levy negotiating things, you’d imagine Kane would cost way in excess of £100m…
At this point, with El Matador likely to be here for another twelve months, I’d much prefer that money to be spent elsewhere. United can out there and grab a Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for that sort of money.
Sure, it’d be painful to watch Kane head to City but United have to focus on themselves first and foremost. They can worry about signing a striker next summer and try to get closer to our noisy neighbours by signing players we actually need this time around…
