Man United are now looking at a move to sign Leny Yoro from Lille.
Manchester United will sign a centre-half this summer. Maybe even multiple, as inconsistencies in that area of the field cost the Red Devils deeply last term.
Several names have been linked with plugging the Raphael Varane-shaped hole in that position, with Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite the frontrunners as things stand.
However, we must not forget about Leny Yoro. The Lille man was linked with a Reds switch earlier on in the window, though all had gone quiet on that front – until today…
Florian Plettenberg states that United have now ‘entered the race’ to sign the teenage defender, by making an ‘official offer’ to Lille.
As things stand, the player has ‘not yet decided’ on his next transfer destination, with Yoro having the choice of United or Real Madrid at this point.
What’s also intriguing is that Plettenberg goes against the grain where De Ligt is concerned. He believes United are yet to submit an official offer to acquire the Dutchman.

But the 18 y/o top talent has not yet decided whether he will join Manchester United or Real Madrid.
Still no official offer from ManUtd to Bayern for Matthijs de Ligt. Clubs not… pic.twitter.com/wo2M0uqGdM
Yoro is arguably the most talented of the three centre-backs linked with a move to Manchester, though he’s also the most raw. It’s whether or not United believe he is ready to come in and make an impact right now – as that’s exactly what the club needs.
There’s also the small matter of Real Madrid… Obviously, they’ve just won the Champions League, they also have that football on offer in the 2024/25 campaign.
If I am looking at it as a neutral, the Spanish side would be heavy favourites as things stand.
