Man United are pushing again to try and secure the signature of Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco.
Manchester United’s attention has now turned to bringing in a new midfielder of some description. The Old Trafford club have acquired a defender and forward, so it only makes sense to strengthen in all three key spots.
Several names have been linked with filling the void in the middle of the park perhaps none more so than Manuel Ugarte. However, recent rumours suggest the asking price for the man from Uruguay remains too high.
As a result, the 20-time Premier League champions could look to move for other options. Including AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.
He’s another name who the Red Devils have been linked with during this window and now Gazzetta have provided an update on that front.
They state that United have once again ‘expressed their interest’ in acquiring the 25-year-old midfielder.
The Reds are deemed a ‘serious threat’ for Fofana’s signing, as Milan are also pushing to acquire the Frenchman.
Fofana is a mobile central midfielder who’d add energy aplenty to that area of the park. This is exactly what United need at this juncture, particularly as Casemiro is now starting to look rather old.
At this stage, it’s claimed that Milan is Fofana’s preferred destination, though he would not say no to United, who have presented him with an ‘equally ambitious project’.
Now it comes down to which side is willing to pay the higher transfer fee to sign Fofana, while also keeping the player happy in terms of his weekly wage.
