Man United have held ‘initial talks’ over Benjamin Sesko signing

Man United have been speaking directly to RB Salzburg, over the possible transfer of Benjamin Sesko.

At this point, I firmly believe Erik ten Hag will have hoped for more than the three signings he has gotten over the line.

We have to be honest, this squad is looking supremely thin in some areas of the field. If any sort of injury crisis strikes, United could be in an absolute mess.

Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t helped matters by demanding his way out of Old Trafford this summer, meaning United have had to turn their attentions to acquiring a new striker.

It can be argued regardless of what happens with Ronaldo, a new forward is absolutely necessary. Benjamin Sesko’s name is one that has been linked somewhat consistently over the last week or so.

Now, Sky Sports News have weighed in on United’s reported interest in Sesko. They believe that United have held ‘initial talks’ over the potential signing of the striker.

However, the large gap in valuation has left the Reds ‘deciding’ whether to pursue a deal to bring in the teenager this summer.

The bad news from a United standpoint is that Salzburg are under absolutely no pressure to sell. The 19-year-old has four years left on his deal and ideally, the Austrian outfit want to keep ahold of Sesko for one more season.

The striker has already made 13 appearances for Slovenia, while also enjoying a breakthrough season at club level in 2021/22. Sesko also looked super sharp against Liverpool in a pre-season game a week or so ago.

Sesko seems to have all the attributes to perform at the highest level. Whether or not he’s ready to lead the line for a top club like United, at this young stage in his career, is a different matter entirely…

Do you think Benjamin Sesko would be a good signing for man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
