Man United have apparently been in discussions with the representatives of Axel Disasi, over a possible summer move.
Manchester United now have a settled back two of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. It’s a combination that has worked beautifully this season.
It has left the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof out in the cold, meaning either, or both, could look at exiting the club this summer. It goes without saying, they’d have to be replaced as football is now a squad game more than it ever was before.
French media outlet, Foot Mercato, with the translation coming via the MEN live blog, seem to believe United are looking at Axel Disasi as a potential replacement.
Apparently, United have ‘held talks’ with the representatives of the 25-year-old defender about a possible summer move to Old Trafford.
It’s stated that Disasi is attracting plenty of interest from major clubs ahead of the summer, though United met his entourage two weeks ago to discuss a move.
Bayern Munich and PSG are also credited with an interest in the France international.
Since moving to AS Monaco a few years ago, Disasi’s stock has gradually risen. He’s emerged as a regular for both club and country, with his performances getting better and better year-in-year-out.
As a third option, Disasi would be an excellent player to have. He’d dip in and out of the team when Raphael Varane needs rest, with plenty of minutes to go around if United are in four competitions every season.
The problem here would be beating out the likes of PSG and Munich to sign Disasi. Having Champions League football on the table is the bare minimum.
