Man United have ‘held talks’ with Jeremie Frimpong representatives

Man United have already held discussions with the agents of Bayer Leverkusen right-back, Jeremie Frimpong.

Last summer, it was made pretty clear that Manchester United were in the hunt to bring in a new right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was put up for transfer – though the Englishman eventually remained a Red Devil. He’s done well this term.

However, Erik ten Hag is seemingly still intent on bringing in a new right-back. According to the Manchester Evening News, the club could also sell up to three full-backs this summer.

The name seemingly atop the wishlist is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. According to the MEN, United have ‘held talks’ with the representatives of the 22-year-old already. On top of that, Ten Hag ‘really likes’ the player who he is ‘keen’ on.

Frimpong has come to the fore at Bayer Leverkusen, starting 26 of their 28 Bundesliga matches, while also earning a Netherlands call-up for the World Cup.

The player is said to be ‘calm’ about his future, insisting he’s fully focused on playing out the season with the Bundesliga club.

United have provisionally planned to sell Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Alex tells and Brandon Williams, leaving the Reds somewhat short in defence. It does make sense to fill that void with an emerging star like Frimpong.

I can still see a scenario in which Wan-Bissaka is moved on this summer, too. Whereas Diogo Dalot is still yet to commit to a new contract with United – though I’d imagine that will happen at some point over the next few months.

Frimpong is definitely more in line with Ten Hag’s attack-minded style, meaning he’d have an easier time making the transition from German football to the Premier League.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Jeremie Frimpong would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
