Man United are in contact over the signing of Manuel Ugarte this summer.
Manchester United are yet to make a signing this summer, though the Reds are seemingly trying to keep their cards close to the chest, not wanting to overpay for any potential squad additions.
Over the last 24 hours or so, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Manuel Ugarte.
Yesterday, an initial offer to sign the man from Uruguay was turned down, according to Sky Sports News.
Today, Fabrizio Romano has given his take on the situation. He believes that no bid has been made at this point, though the United transfer target apparently has ‘chances’ to leave PSG this summer. The French side are open to selling the midfielder, if a ‘good proposal’ arrives.
United remain in contact with the Ligue 1 side over the signing, though that’s as far as the transfer has gone to this point.

Manchester United made contact with PSG, talks were on several players and possibilities including Ugarte; no bid has been submitted yet. pic.twitter.com/ch1VU4ABVf
Ugarte is your classic defensive midfielder. Likely, the man from Uruguay has been eyed as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who looked a little leggy at times last season. There’s also a chance that Christian Eriksen will depart Old Trafford this summer.
Midfield certainly needs work. This club needs an energetic defensive midfielder who can come in, do the dirty work and allow the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes to flourish.
My concern with Ugarte is that he only joined PSG last summer. The French side are under no pressure to sell whatsoever thus, the 23-year-old would cost a pretty penny.
