Man United ‘have made contact’ over possible move to sign Justin Bijlow

Man United have contacted Feyenoord over a possible move to sign goalkeeper Justin Bijlow.

David de Gea is no longer under contract at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag has some pretty big gloves to fill. The Spaniard was a sublime servant to the Red Devils. There’s still a chance he’ll come back.

However, the 20-time Premier League champions will be keeping their options open, looking at potential signings. Andre Onana, Diogo Costa and David Raya have all been linked.

Now, The Athletic (subscription required), throw another option into the mix; Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow.

According to their report, United ‘have made contact’ over a potential move to sign the 25-year-old shot-stopper, who has spent the last few seasons as Feyenoord’s first choice.

With money somewhat limited this summer, it does make sense to see that United are weighing up a move for a cheaper option in between the sticks. Either that, or De Gea is staying and the club do not want to sanction huge money on a possible competitor for De Gea.

Again, this is a case of Erik ten Hag continuing to surround himself with familiarity. He’ll know Bijlow’s game inside out from his time over in the Eredivisie as a manager.

The article claims that as things stand, United are prioritising a move to sign a new striker. In turn, that will dictate what sort of money the Reds will spend on a new shot-stopper. Right now, the club are absolutely keeping their options open.

Hopefully, the club have enough money within the budget to bring in an elite level keeper and striker, assuming that De Gea has indeed left and has no intentions of coming back.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Justin Bijlow would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
