Man United have seemingly chosen to relieve Erik ten Hag of his duties, with Roberto De Zerbi viewed as a possible replacement.
Manchester United’s new part-owners INEOS have some seriously big decisions to make this summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already trying to build his board-level staff team, though it’s proving difficult to acquire Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United.
Below that, the next big decision is in the manager’s dugout. Erik ten Hag hasn’t done himself any favours over the last few weeks, with some poor results and even worse performances.
The Dutchman’s saving grace could be an FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, though even winning the oldest club competition in English football may not be enough.
One journalist in the form of Pedro Almeida believes that Ten Hag’s fate has already been sealed, with a decision made to relieve him of his duties.
What’s interesting here is that Almedia already believes the search for a new coach has begun, with the 44-year-old Brighton manager, Roberto de Zerbi, eyed as a ‘very viable’ replacement.

First and foremost, I don’t think Ten Hag can have any qualms if he is relieved of his duties. It has been a really poor season overall and there’s only so many mistakes you can make, particularly at this elite level.
Ten Hag’s in-game tactical decisions have been pretty poor, while there’s obviously something going seriously wrong in training with the amount of injuries being picked up. I’m all for giving a manager time to implement his ideas and philosophies, though as more time passes, the less convinced I am about the Dutchman being able to succeed here.
De Zerbi feels like an obvious replacement at this point in time. He’s probably the stand out candidate after some excellent work at Brighton over the last couple of seasons. Although it’d be a risk, one thing is for sure, United would play the right way under the Italian…
