Man United are now working hard to bring Manuel Ugarte to the club this summer.

Manchester United Football Club have addressed their centre-back and centre-forward issues in the transfer market. Now, attention turns to bringing in a new midfielder of genuine quality.

The Old Trafford side are crying out for someone who adds real stability to the middle of the park, with several names linked with filling that void. Perhaps none more so than PSG’s Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguay international could well depart the French capital this summer, though only if the right offer arrives for the defensive-minded central player.

Now, journalist Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on that front. According to his latest information, United have made ‘several verbal offers’ to PSG to sign the 23-year-old. However, none of those offers have met the asking price.

PSG are still demanding at least £58m to allow Ugarte to leave, despite the fact that the player wants a transfer to Old Trafford this summer. Negotiations will continue.

Check out Florian Plettenberg’s X post on the news here:

Ugarte strikes me as someone who is viewed as the long-term replacement for Casemiro. The man from Brazil looked every bit an ageing 32-year-old at times last season, showing he was far too easily bypassed by opposing midfielders.

He needs help. Perhaps not having the pressure of starting every single game will mean that Casemiro can prolong his career by another year or two. Sharing that load with Ugarte could be massive.

The issue for United is the lack of available funds. The Reds are being careful with their money this summer for a reason. Premier League spending rules are now a real issue and the Old Trafford side have to stick within those guidelines. It may mean players will have to be sold before another offer for Ugarte can be made.

  1. There is no way United should match the price that PSG want.
They paid 60, million Euro’s a year ago and he is only a bit player.
An offer of £40,million + £5,million in add on’s should be more than enough
