Man United have ‘more doubts’ about Lisandro Martinez availability for Brighton game

Lisandro Martinez may not be involved vs Brighton this weekend, as doubts about his injury continue…

Manchester United have been hit hard by the injury bug this season. The Red Devils are struggling for any sort of consistency in that area, with players dropping like flies.

Before the international break, Lisandro Martinez was the latest player to go down with a problem. He’d have to be substituted off against Arsenal, which would cost United as our opponents would score late to break our hearts.

Licha would then jet off to play for Argentina, all healthy and without issue – or so we thought

The centre-back wouldn’t play for his country in either game, which begs the question, why did he travel…?

Anyway, The Telegraph have provided an update on the defender, claiming United now have ‘more doubts’ about the availability of the key player for the Brighton game this weekend.

He is still dealing with a foot issue. The same foot he injured last season, which ruled him out for the end of the campaign. Recurring injury problems like this are never a good sign.

It would explain why precaution is being taken with Martinez in general, as he’s already been subbed off twice this season.

The concern for me is that this is an issue that will not going away during the course of this campaign. Sadly, if it only can be managed, we can expect to see Licha suffering time and time again until he’s given the appropriate amount of rest.

The verdict

With this in mind, I seriously doubt we’ll see Martinez take to the field this weekend. That could mean Harry Maguire is given a start and if that’s the case, it’s up to us supporters to fully back the Englishman.
