Man United have ‘once again shown interest’ in signing Sergio Reguilon

Man United could look to bring Sergio Reguilon back to Old Trafford this summer.

Last season, Manchester United’s left-back area was decimated with injury throughout the campaign. It made Erik ten Hag’s job that much harder.

Tyrell Malacia didn’t play once. Luke Shaw nursed injuries all season long. In the first half of the campaign Sergio Reguilon was a reliable filler option, after signing on loan during transfer deadline day. Eyebrows were raised when he was sent back to Spurs in January.

Well, Ten Hag remains a fan of the Spaniard, according to the latest report from AS. According to their information, Spurs plan to cash in on Reguilon this summer.

United have ‘once again shown interest’ in signing the 27-year-old left-back this summer, though they’ll face competition. West Ham United are also said to be keen.

AS do not mention any bids being made at this stage, though United and West Ham are said to be among the ‘elite of the Premier League’ waiting for the signing with ‘open arms’.

While I wouldn’t mind this signing, I do not see a deal happening. Do not forget that Ten Hag chose to send Reguilon back to London in January, when United’s full-back situation was exactly the same then as it is now.

The Dutch gaffer chose to play Diogo Dalot out of position for large spells when Shaw was sidelined and the man from Portugal did do a good job. I would personally prefer to see Reguilon playing there as he looked pretty good whenever called upon, though it just doesn’t fit in with the typical trends of our manager.
