Man United are still being given a chance at signing Jude Bellingham, although it may be a long shot.
Manchester United infamously tried to sign Jude Bellingham when he headed to Borussia Dortmund a few years ago, rolling out the red carpet for the young man and his family.
In the end, the Reds’ pursuit came up short at that time. A move to BvB is now looking like a masterstroke by the young man, who has grown even further than any of us would have imagined.
United were always going to be interested in signing Bellingham when he chooses to leave Dortmund – though competition was always going to be fierce.
Not too long ago, the Reds were ruled out completely. However, that situation may have changed somewhat…
The information comes from journalist Patrick Berger, who took to Twitter this morning to share his latest information.
Apparently, he believes United still have ‘outsider chances’ at signing the emerging midfielder this summer. On top of that, Erik ten Hag ‘urgently’ wants the player at the club.
It goes without saying, Bellingham is probably the best young player in football right now. Whoever wins his signature are going to be one happy club.
United have had a good season. There’s no getting away from that. However, have they progressed enough to tempt Bellingham in? I’m not so sure.
At the very least, we’d have to offer Champions League football to the young man, though even then I worry. He’ll know about the ownership issues currently surrounding the club. Will he want to put up with that?
I’d still have Real Madrid, Manchester City and even Arsenal as the favourites right now…
