Man United are eyeing Leicester City midfielder, Youri Tielemans.
It feels pretty crazy to write this given the massive amount of money that has been spent recently, but there are still gaping holes within this Manchester United squad.
Whether Ralf Rangnick will be in charge to benefit from signings being made looks unlikely, but there’s every chance the German will play some part in deciding who is brought in.
I’d argue that central midfield remains our biggest cause for concern, particularly as Paul Pogba looks extremely likely to leave on a free transfer this coming summer.
United are now seemingly looking at fixing that area of the park, or so the Daily Star report. They say that Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans is on the Reds’ radar.
I’ll start by saying this. It feels like United are linked with a move to sign Tielemans every summer and that won’t change until the Belgium international finally decides to move away from Leicester City.
Anyway, this report from the Star claims that United ‘have targeted’ a move for the 24-year-old, in a bid to land a world-class midfielder this summer – presumably to replace the aforementioned Pogba.
United chiefs are ‘keen’ to strengthen in the midfield area, while they’re now looking elsewhere as they may well be priced out of a move to sign West Ham United’s Declan Rice.
It goes without saying, United could do far worse than Tielemans, who has been a revelation for Leicester City ever since moving to The Foxes back in 2019.
United may well be able to land Tielemans on a relatively cheap deal, too, with the midfielder out of contract next summer. That’d be welcome news for the Reds, who had to pay way over the odds to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester a couple of seasons ago.
In terms of Pogba replacements, there aren’t many better options out there. Tielemans has experience in the Premier League and he’d slot right into our side from day one.
