I still hold the opinion that a new central midfielder has to be a high priority for Manchester United this summer.
With a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka all-but done, it gives the Old Trafford club time to press on with other transfer targets – hopefully a high-level central player is amongst them.
One player the 20-time Premier League champions do like is Youri Tielemans. In a Mohamed Bouhafsi exclusive for Get France Football News, it is being claimed that the classy 22-year-old midfielder is on United’s transfer shortlist.
However, don’t get too excited, as the Belgium international is neither a priority for the club or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Baby Faced Assassin seemingly fancying other targets more…
Tielemans had an excellent second-half of the season with Leicester City, putting in some mightily impressive performances against some top quality midfielders. He’s always had the potential to perform at the highest stage and now the youngster is starting to show it.
It looks an inevitability that Tielemans will leave AS Monaco for good during this transfer window, and the fact that it’s public knowledge may reduce his transfer fee somewhat. There is also interest from Germany in the midfielder, although United needn’t rush as Bouhafsi says this transfer will take ‘weeks’ rather than ‘days’…
What do you reckon, would Tielemans be a good fit at United?
