Manchester United’s injury issues continue to mount, with Anthony Martial the latest to suffer a problem.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have been seriously struggling on the injury front recently, while this international break was supposed to be an opportunity for those issues to ease up.
Sadly, for the Red Devils, it seems as though our problems have only worsened. Anthony Martial was dealing with a niggling injury before jetting off to play for his beloved France, before getting over it in time to take on Leicester City. Well, now, Martial has another issue to worry about.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the United star was forced off with a knee issue, dealing the Reds a massive injury concern to a key player.
Apparently, Martial would be down, receiving lengthy treatment, before trying to continue on. Eventually, he’d succumb to a substitution after five minutes.
In these instances, I always think being precautionary is the best thing to do. If you’re France, why would you risk it? They were winning at the time and although Martial would have been desperate to continue, just sub him off straight away and get him looked at.
Knee injuries can be majorly serious problems as we all know, and if there’s any thought that Martial has made it worse by continuing, United will have every right to be furious with France.
For United, they’ll now be left sweating. Martial is obviously an important player, particularly due to the fact that Edinson Cavani is also suffering from injury issues of his own.
With the Reds taking on Brighton this weekend, Solskjaer will be crossing his fingers that Martial is fit and ready to play. I wouldn’t hold my breath, mind…
