Man United hold advanced talks with world-class winger about potential summer move: report

Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Gareth Bale.

According to the Manchester Evening News, per The Metro, the Red Devils have held advanced talks with the Welshman in recent weeks, about the possibility of a summer move.

The 28-year-old had a hit-and-miss season in 2017/18, although he was the star of the show in the Champions League final. After falling out-of-favour with former boss Zinedine Zidane, a move could well be on the cards for the winger.

At 28, this stinks of a typical Jose Mourinho signing. He loves the experienced, ready-made player. Rather than opting for youth, the manager would be able to slot Bale straight into proceedings, and he’d no doubt improve United’s overall outlook from the get-go.

I do have my concerns about whether this move will actually go through, though. He’s won back-to-back-to-back Champions League crowns with Los Blancos, United haven’t reached the final of that competition in almost a decade.

Then you have to factor in the transfer fee. You’d imagine any deal would cost in excess of £100million, which, for a man who spends a lot of time on the treatment table, has to be considered a risk. It’s certainly going to be intriguing to see how this one plays out.
