Man United are now in talks with Burnley over the possible signing of Sander Berge.
Manchester United are now seemingly going all out to sign a midfielder before the start of the Premier League in just over one weeks’ time.
The Red Devils need to address some issues in that area of the field, with Casemiro now looking older and the future of Scott McTominay still far from secure. A top-class defensive midfielder would certainly help out.
Manuel Ugarte felt like the top target, though a move for the Uruguayan now looks unlikely due to PSG’s high asking price. Over the last couple of days, Sander Berge’s name has been mentioned as a possible option.
Now, according to Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth, the Reds have now reached out to Burnley about the Norwegian midfielder.
According to Sheth, United have held ‘initial talks’ with the club over the signing of the 26-year-old midfielder.
The Old Trafford side are said to be ‘exploring conditions’ of a potential deal, with Berge having three years left on his contract at Turf Moor.

With Burnley relegated to the Championship, Berge will no doubt have aspirations to play at a higher level as soon as possible. It doesn’t really get much bigger than playing for Manchester United.
It may be tough for Burnley to keep ahold of their key midfielder for the upcoming season, particularly if the player himself expresses an interest to make the move to Old Trafford.
This could be an astute piece of business by United if they can convince the Turf Moor outfit to sell this summer. Berge has massive potential and you’d like to think he’d take his game to the next level as he’d be playing with better players around him.
