Man United hold talks with Dani Olmo, player wants January exit from Zagreb: report

Manchester United Football Club need to invest in the playing squad during the January transfer window. That much is obvious. Several positions need strengthening though you’d imagine most will have to wait until the summer.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can at least put the feelers out there and see if any good business can be done in the mid-season transfer period. Yesterday, Goal added a new name to the ever-growing list of players linked with Old Trafford moves; Dani Olmo.

Apparently, United have held talks with the 21-year-old who wants to leave his current club (Dinamo Zagreb) in January. However, the Reds will face stiff competition from Chelsea and Barcelona, with the latter currently leading the race.

The bad news for the 20-time Premier League champions is that Goal feel confident a deal can be done for £25m, though Dinamo want closer to £35m to let their prized asset go.

Olmo is a winger/attacking midfielder who started his career in the famous La Masia academy in Catalonia. After seeing Zagreb get dumped out of the Champions League, the talented youngster is now ready to move on and fight for a place in the Spanish national team for this summer’s European Championship.

Right now, it feels like a long-shot that United will sign Olmo, however, the fact that they’ve held talks with the player backs up their interest. I guess the Reds will just have to wait and see if Barca make a concrete offer. If not, Solskjaer could potentially strike…
