Man United hopeful 30-year-old will sign new deal, player yet to make final decision on future: report

Manchester United are still hopeful that Marouane Fellaini will sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

That’s according to the BBC, who state that the 30-year-old is yet to make a final decision on where his long-term future lies.

The main crux of the BBC’s article is regarding the Red Devils targeting moves for both Toby Alderweireld and Fred. We’ve already covered those deals extensively, though, and it was the little snippet about Fellaini that caught my eye.

His current contract runs out next month, meaning he’d be able to walk away from United on a free – five years after signing from Everton.

At this point, I’m sure the majority would want Fellaini to walk away. Let’s be honest, the majority of fans have never really fully taken to his style. and it’s quite easy to see why.

Personally, I want him to hang around. As an option from off the substitutes bench, I like Fellaini. He’s always good for an important goal or two, and whenever we need that physical presence in the midfield, the Belgium international can do a solid job.

Hopefully, he’ll have decided his future either way before the World Cup next month, because I don’t want this one to drag on for the full summer.
