We apologise in advance for yet another article about Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but here goes…
The latest story we covered last night came from Goal and they claimed that the right-back was pencilled in for a medical and the player was set to become United’s second summer signing.
Well, that may not be the case. According to the BBC, no deal has been agreed as of yet – although talks will continue and United are ‘hopeful’ that they can sign the defender this summer.
The fee that seems to keep cropping up is £50million, which may seem expensive for a 21-year-old who only broke into the Crystal Palace first-team just last season. When you think about it, though, you’d struggle to name many better right-backs than the Englishman in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
It’s just annoying that United are seemingly pussyfooting around and haggling over the transfer fee in what is there most important summer in years. Palace’s asking price hasn’t budged over the last month of negotiations, so if the Red Devils want to sign him badly enough, why haven’t they met the asking price already?
The sooner the deal is done, the more time Wan-Bissaka has to get comfortable in Manchester before jetting off on pre-season tour next month. At this point, I have my doubts about whether this move will be completed before then – which further highlights what a mess United are in at the moment…
