Man United have been in contact over the potential signing of Adrien Rabiot.
Last summer, Manchester United put in the effort to convince Adrien Rabiot to make the move to the club. However, the financial package the Red Devils placed on the table wasn’t to the Frenchman’s liking…
Seemingly, Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of Rabiot’s. With the club looking to go back in for the Frenchman this summer.
It’s Goal Italia with the scoop, thanks must go to Sport Witness for the translation.
Apparently, Juventus would prefer to keep Rabiot, though the Frenchman has ‘other ambitions’. United are one of the potential options for the player, who have recently ‘tested the ground’ to sign him.
It’s added that United have already carried out ‘exploratory contacts’ over a potential move to sign the 28-year-old, which could lead to ‘something more substantial’ soon.
Rabiot would be available on a free transfer this summer, which is probably where the interest stems from. Signing a player of this calibre, on the back of an impressive season, feels like a no-brainer.
However, you’d imagine that his wage demands, which were the problem last summer, wouldn’t have lowered. What’s changed?
Perhaps United will be in a better financial position to pay Rabiot more, assuming the new owners are in charge. The desire to sign him may have also increased after what was arguably his best season as a professional.
The futures of Fred and Scott McTominay are far from certain. United could look to move one (or both) of these guys on, in order to raise space in the squad, and funds, to bring in a better player in Rabiot.
You’d imagine that the Reds will not be the only interested party, mind.
