Man United in contact with Cody Gakpo’s agent, chance January deal happens

Man United remain in contact with Cody Gakpo and his agents, with there now a chance a deal happens in January.

All the talk this past week has been in regard to a move for United to sign Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window. Couple his good form with reported Reds interest over the summer and it’s a story that makes sense.

The Dutchman has scored three goals in the World Cup so far, impressing in several aspects of his game. It’s now pretty easy to see why Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing his fellow Dutchman to Old Trafford.

It’s Fabrizio Romano with the latest information on Gakpo’s future. Apparently, there are ‘chances’ that the attacker could leave PSV Eindhoven in January – despite the original plan to sell him next summer.

On top of that, United remain ‘in contact’ with the agents of the 23-year-old, with three or four clubs in the race to acquire the in-form forward.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on the news here:

Gakpo is the man of the moment. His stock is rising with each passing game. You look at his speed, physicality, finishing prowess and you have the complete package. No doubt he’d only improve under someone like Ten Hag.

The problem for United is that the transfer fee is consistently rising with every single goal he scores. Perhaps they’ll look back on the summer with regret, as they chose not to sign Gakpo due to ever-increasing fees to bring in Antony.

You also have to factor in the level of competition. If this deal has to wait until next summer, it may prove difficult – particularly if there’s no Champions League football on the table.
