Man United are having conversations with Nice left-back, Melvin Bard, as the Reds look to add a new full-back.
Manchester United need new signings in practically every position on the field. The Old Trafford club have holes aplenty within the current playing squad, though INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will look to start plugging those gaps when the summer arrives.
Cheaper signings may well be the order of the day. Money is tight due to FFP constraints, as the Red Devils look to tow the line and avoid any sort of penalty.
The left-back position has been identified as a position of need, with the club focusing their interest on bringing in a new signing in that area. We haven’t seen Tyrell Malacia all campaign, while Luke Shaw will always pick up injuries every now and then.
Now, The Independent believes United have identified Melvin Bard as a possible option. Apparently, the Reds are ‘in contact’ with the 23-year-old, who is being discussed as one of the targets to bolster the back line.
Bard has had an excellent season for Nice in Ligue 1, as he continues to push for his first France call-up ahead of Euro 2024.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who also owns Nice, will know Bard well, while a move could benefit all parties as the player only has a couple of years left on his deal. Though new contract talks are expected over the next couple of months.
You do get the impression United are also trying to get younger all over the field. Bard is another player who fits into that mould as INEOS look to get a grip of the current situation at Old Trafford.
