Man United are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential move for Amadou Haidara.
It goes without saying that the midfield area is Manchester United’s biggest concern right now.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lost his job over a lack of investment in that area, while Ralf Rangnick is now finding out exactly how inconsistent our regular starters in midfield can be…
The German has only been given a contract until the summer, though if he wants this side to finish the term strong and potentially make it into the top-four, he understands a signing will be needed. Enter, Amadou Haidara.
The story comes from Jonathan Shrager, who has often been a top source of information in regards to United. He claims that talks are in the preliminary stages, however, United are now in an ‘open dialogue’ with RB Leipzig over the potential signing of the 23-year-old midfielder.
United cannot go on any longer with Scott McTominay and Fred if they’re serious about winning titles. Sadly, that’s the brutal truth.
Haidara is someone who’d improve United in the midfield area as soon as he walks through the door. It really is that simple.
Rangnick showed an interest in the Mali international no sooner had he walked through the door. No doubt as time has gone on watching the current crop of midfielders in training, his keenness on signing the RB Leipzig man has only grown.
Haidara brings mobility, on-ball quality, tenacity and willingness to defend. He’d be our best defensive midfielder as soon as he walks through the door – assuming the signing is made.
Obviously, buying in the mid-season window is notoriously difficult. This move for Haidara will be no different and suddenly, there’s only a fortnight left in the window.
United will have to act quickly and probably pay over the odds in order to even tempt RB Leipzig into thinking about parting with one of their prized assets.
