Man United in ‘direct contact’ with Madrid over Varane signing: report

Man United remain in direct contact with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Raphael Varane.

The need for Manchester United to sign a new centre-half is there for all to see. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to find the ideal partner for Harry Maguire, as the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have struggled.

That search has seemingly led the Baby Faced Assassin to Raphael Varane. The Frenchman, who is out of contract in twelve months time, could well be on the move this summer if he cannot agree a new deal with Real Madrid.

The latest update in the saga comes from Fabrizio Romano, who states that United are in ‘direct contact’ with Real Madrid in an effort to sign the 28-year-old.

What’s interesting is that Varane wants a Premier League move, or, ‘experience’ as Romano puts it. He will remain respectful towards Madrid, though, as he doesn’t want to break his relationship with Los Blancos.

The talks are ongoing and it’s now down to the two clubs to find an agreement over the potential transfer.

It goes without saying, Varane would be a huge upgrade on our current defensive options – and what a signing this would be if somehow United can pull it off.

Varane is experienced, he’s a winner, he’s amongst the best in the world in his position. What’s not to like about that? No doubt it’d keep Paul Pogba slightly happier, too, as the pair are no doubt, good friends, from their time together with the France national team.

I’m feeling positive about our chances in regards to signing Varane. Hopefully, we are given some more concrete information soon.
