Man United in ‘last minute race’ to get Bruno Fernandes fit for Atletico game

Man United are facing a battle to get Bruno Fernandes fit in time for their Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.

Despite a great victory for ourselves this weekend, Manchester United face an uphill battle to finish inside the Premier League’s top four this season.

Perhaps the best entry into next season’s Champions League is by winning the 2021/22 version of the continental tournament. Obviously, that’s far easier said than done given our topsy-turvy form at the moment.

As things stand, we’re tied at 1-1 with Atletico Madrid in the last sixteen stage, with the reverse leg taking place at Old Trafford tomorrow.

For that game, United find themselves in a ’last-minute race’ to have key star, Bruno Fernandes, available…

The Portugal international missed United’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur with Covid-19 and now the club are hoping he’ll be back fit for this one – though it’s looking like a 50/50 call as things stand.

“Luke hopefully will be back in training tomorrow and Bruno we will have to wait and see until Tuesday. This will probably be a last-minute race with him.” Rangnick told the media, including the Manchester Evening News.

It goes without saying, we’re a much better team with Bruno in it. He’s been the beacon of hope for us over the last couple of years and if anyone deserves to showcase his talents on the Champions League stage, it’s him.

He’s a player capable of producing something out of nothing, which is exactly what may be required in this tight-knit games against an Atletico Madrid side who pride themselves on playing excellent defence.

Sure, I get it that the risk-taking from Bruno isn’t the most efficient way of playing football, but he’s one of few players capable of playing (and completing) some outrageous passes that carve out opportunities for his teammates. Make no mistake about it, we’ll find it much harder without his presence.

Let’s hope that the midfield magician can overcome his bout of Covid-19 in time, while also ensuring he’s feeling well enough to play in this one. No doubt he’s desperate to be involved.
