Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes is a transfer saga I’m quickly getting sick of. Almost every day we’re given a fresh update on the future of Sporting Lisbon’s 24-year-old midfielder. Today, we’re back again with the latest…

The story once again comes from Portugal, namely A Bola (Wednesday print), with an excellent translation coming from Sport Witness.

Anyway, they say that there will finally be some movement in regards to this move. Apparently, United are in ‘pole position’ for the 24-year-old’s transfer, with an official proposal now ‘imminent’. Everything indicates said offer will come before the end of the week.

After much posturing, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to firm up the interest with an official bid, although Edward Woodward will have to act quick with the transfer window now winding down pretty quickly.

Apparently, Tottenham haven’t given up on the chase to sign Fernandes with the London club remaining keen, with first offers from both United and Spurs set to be somewhere around the €50-55m (£45-55m) mark, while Sporting hope to land €70m (£63m) for their prolific playmaker.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. United are already a couple of midfielder’s light after losing Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera. Signing Fernandes (or any other midfielder for that matter) is essential just to have another body in there at the very least…
