For Manchester United, scoring goals has been the key issue this term. Marcus Rashford couldn’t do it all on his own while Anthony Martial was out injured – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paying for his decision to let Romelu Lukaku leave.
Anyway, one name has been constantly linked with a potential Old Trafford move; Mario Mandzukic.
The latest update in that brewing saga comes from TMW, translated by Sport Witness who state that United are in ‘pole position’ to complete the January signing.
Furthermore, Juventus want £10.3m (€12m) to let the Croatia star leave in the mid-season window while another potential landing spot for Mandzukic has emerged…
Apparently, ‘in recent hours’ Borussia Dortmund have come into the picture. Sport Witness does state that this could be a tactic by Juve to pressure United into making their move…
My stance on Mandzukic has been clear. He’s an experienced striker who could be a quick-fix for six months, maybe a year? But that’s it.
He’d probably score a handful of goals but Mandzukic is a player who has never been prolific. The Croatia star does give maximum effort every time he takes to the field, though, and several members of Solskjaer’s squad could learn a thing or two from his experience…
