Man United are in discussions with Juventus over a potential sale of Jadon Sancho, though a transfer is not going to be easy.
Over the last decade or so, there have been many disappointing incoming transfers at Manchester United. The club have bought star names from all across the globe, without really thinking about how they’re going to fit in stylistically.
From Alexis Sanchez, to Romelu Lukaku, with a little Paul Pogba mixed in, several disastrous signings have been made. Perhaps none more so than Jadon Sancho.
The Englishman arrived from Borussia Dortmund for a fee over £70m, after United spent two years trying to sign Sancho.
Sancho has never been able to nail down a regular starting spot, while being involved in a very public fallout with Erik ten Hag over the last year or so. Although the pair have kissed and made up, you always felt it’d be tough for Sancho to force his way back into the good books.
After not being in the squad for the Fulham game last weekend, Sancho has reverted to type. He was seen before kick-off at Old Trafford last Friday, though not afterwards.
Now, The Athletic believe United are ‘in talks’ with European giant Juventus over the sale of Sancho. That said, finding a financial transfer agreement that suits all parties is said to be ‘difficult’.
United are looking for a fee close to £40m to let Sancho leave, though no club has come close to matching that asking price. Juventus have stepped up communication for the Englishman and Turin is thought to be the most likely destination for the winger as things stand.
Juve could look to propose a loan, including some sort of salary contribution, though this doesn’t solve United’s problem of getting Sancho off the books.
Sadly, it does look like the attacker will still be being paid by United come the close of the summer transfer window.
