Man United are ready to activate the £33.8m release clause in Joshua Zirkzee’s contract.

Manchester United have made no secret about the fact that they’re trying to sign another striker this summer, in order to prove some help (and competition) for Rasmus Hojlund.

Anthony Martial has left and those minutes have to be replaced by genuine quality if Erik ten Hag’s side are to move up the table in 2024/25.

Over the last week, the name most linked with filling the void is Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch striker is currently away on international duty with the Netherlands, so patience could be key here.

Now, Sky Sports News have provided the latest on that front, claiming United have made it clear that they’re willing to pay the £33.8m release clause to sign the player. United are said to be locked in talks with Zirkzee’s agents as things stand.

Check out Sky Sports News’ X post on the Zirkzee information here:

The Bologna player scored twelve goals across all competitions last season, impressing for a side who finished fifth in the Serie A.

Zirkzee is attracting interest from elsewhere, too, with AC Milan also thought to be keen on the striker. It depends whether the forward wants a change in scenery this summer, as he may well be intent on remaining in Italy.

Make no mistake about it, this would be an excellent piece of business if United could somehow drag a deal over the line.

  1. I don’t know why we’re wasting time to bringing in new players.
We can’t afford to make the same mistake we made last season in the transfer market, that put us into panic buy. We threw away a whopping £80m for Antony that never justified the amount spent on him. Mason Mount is another waste of money, his own case is worst than that of Antony.
We need to act fast in bringing new players to Old Trafford, so as to allow them go for preseason friendlies with the old players on time.
