Man United in talks with Ozan Kabak’s entourage, £13.5m release clause: report

It feels like Manchester United have been linked with every available centre-back under the sun this summer, well, another player has been thrown into the mix…

The report comes from Germany, namely Kicker, translated via The Metro, who say that the Red Devils are one of several clubs interested in Stuttgart defender, Ozan Kabak.

Apparently United, alongside West Ham, AC Milan, Schalke and AS Monaco, have held negotiations with the 19-year-old’s entourage this summer.

Kabak only joined Stuttgart in January but the German club were relegated from the Bundesliga – which has seemingly put Kabak’s future in doubt.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is priorotising a move for a centre-back this summer, with The Metro stating that Kabak is viewed as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Harry Maguire and Kalidou Koulibaly – that’s due to his €15m (£13.5m) release clause.

Now I’m not going to give you the spiel about how good Kabak is because I can honestly say I’ve never seen him play. I’m immediately concerned because he’s a mere teenager, and although he’s obviously talented, United need experience at this point in time.

Personally, I’d much prefer to see United push hard for a Toby Alderweireld or the aforementioned Maguire. Players who have ample experience and have performed well in the Premier League. Perhaps they’re just unrealistic targets at this stage, though…
