Manchester United may well be in the hunt for a new midfielder this coming summer, with the Red Devils potentially losing Paul Pogba.
The French midfielder has barely seen action this term, while his comments last summer, about looking for a ‘new challenge’, stick in the back of my mind…
Today, a new midfield name has been thrown into the ring. The story comes from Foot Mercato in France, with the translation coming from Sports Mole. Apparently, United and Arsenal are interested in Bayern Munich midfielder, Corentin Tolisso.
Foot Mercato state that United are in the race to sign the classy 25-year-old, while they’re keeping a ‘close eye’ on developments with the view to potentially making an offer.
After an impressive few years with Lyon, Tolisso would move to Bavaria and find chances semi-limited – hence, the midfielder could well be available this summer.
You can’t take away from his talent. Perhaps what’s missing is that confidence, that morale boost which comes with regular minutes. Make no mistake about it, Tolisso can play and he’d be an excellent addition to this squad if the Reds could sort out a deal.
No transfer fee is mentioned by Foot Mercato, though Tolisso has a contract until 2022. Realistically, this summer is when his value will be at its highest (assuming he doesn’t sign a new deal, that is).
Now I’m not saying Tolisso is as talented as Pogba, but United could definitely do far worse…
