Man United are in the race to sign Declan Rice, though the midfielder is going to cost a large sum of money…
Manchester United’s playing squad continues to be overhauled by Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman already working wonders at Old Trafford.
These players currently at his disposal are unrecognisable – but in a good way. He’s a manager who is getting the absolute maximum out of that dressing room, though further tweaks are needed if we’re serious about challenging for major honours on a regular basis.
One man the club have been consistently linked with over the years is Declan Rice. The English midfielder is very likely to leave West Ham United this summer, though only if the right offer comes in.
The latest information in this saga comes from TalkSPORT. They state that United are ‘in the race’ to sign the 24-year-old this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea also keen on bringing in the Three Lions international.
Despite Casemiro’s impressive form, United and Ten Hag are always looking for ways to improve the squad, TalkSPORT add.
In terms of transfer fee, TalkSPORT’s Jim White has revealed that Rice would cost £120m. Plus add-ons… Obviously, that’s a huge chunk of money. He also claimed that United made a £100m bid for Rice last summer – though that was turned down.
Where on-field performances is concerned, I’d imagine United are now in a better position to sign Rice. Arsenal are, too, particularly if they win the league.
However, financially, I worry about United’s situation. It depends on where things are at in regard to United’s potential sale. If the Glazer family are still in place, I highly doubt this deal happens.
Rice is a top-tier player. He’s someone who’d be the ideal replacement for Casemiro in the long-term. However, I’d hope the club can get at least a couple more top-class seasons out of Casemiro, so for that reason alone, this transfer isn’t an absolute necessity.
