Man United still have Saul Niguez on their transfer radar.
Paul Pogba’s future continues to have a question mark alongside it. The mercurial Frenchman has always divided opinion amongst Manchester United fans.
I’m of the impression that, for his first few seasons back in Manchester, he was below par. Recently, though, Pogba has kicked it up a notch. At this stage, it still looks unlikely he’ll commit to a new United contract, though.
That has led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, rightly, looking at other options if Pogba does end up leaving the club.
According to the Daily Mail, Saul Niguez is the man the Baby Faced Assassin is eyeing as a potential Pogba replacement. Apparently, the Reds are interested in signing the classy 26-year-old midfielder who currently plies his trade for Atletico Madrid.
What’s interesting that the article states Atleti are actively trying to get Saul off their wage bill – and could accept an offer of just £45m. In this day and age, for a player right in his peak, that’d be a sublime deal.
Saul has bags of experience, he’s won major trophies and on his day, there aren’t many better players in his position – including Pogba.
I’m a firm believer in investing time and energy in players who want to give 100% to the badge. If Pogba wants to do that, keep him. If he doesn’t, let him go as soon as possible and replace him with someone who does.
Let’s be honest, a good eighteen months doesn’t make up for the fact that Pogba’s time back in Manchester has been largely negative. Perhaps it’s time for a change in direction…?
