Man United are keen on signing Leeds United attacking midfielder, Raphinha.
When Ralf Rangnick heads upstairs in his consultancy role, Manchester United will have a new man in the dugout for the 2022/23 season.
No doubt the German will have some sort of say on who is hired as the new boss, while I’d like to think he’ll also be able to help out in regards to signings. After all, he’s been closer to the situation than anyone over the last few months.
As we edge closer and closer to what is a vital summer for the Old Trafford club, we’re starting to be linked with more and more names.
One name that has been thrown into the mix of late is Leeds United’s Raphinha. Now, it looks as though the Yorkshire club will allow the Brazilian to leave.
Journalist Gianluigi Longari has had his say on the situation. He believes that United are interested in signing the 25-year-old, though they face stiff competition. Liverpool are named as another keen party, though as things stand, is Barca who are leading the race.
What I find most interesting is the fee. £75million will get the deal done if Leeds survive the dreaded drop this season, though that could drop way down to £25million should Leeds go down.
What’s also promising for any potential buyer is that the ‘excellent relationship’ between club and player should mean that Raphinha will be allowed to depart amicably. Though I’m not sure the Leeds fans would be too pleased if their best player headed to Old Trafford…
There’s no doubt about it. Raphinha has been impressive over the last year or so. Goals, assists, playing with a real swagger and maturity.
With Paul Pogba all set to depart, United could definitely use some of his skill, talent and personality within the dressing room. The question is, could Raphinha make that jump up in quality? While handling the pressure that playing for the biggest club in the world brings?
I’d also be wary about spending that much money on one player. No doubt the club are trying to keep their finances in order as they’ll still be feeling the Covid-19 aftereffects. Unless the Reds are planning on selling before they’re buying, I’m just not sure they’d spend that much money on someone who’d probably dip in and out of the starting line-up.
Would a Man United move for Raphinha make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
