Man United interested in Ben Godfrey, Norwich want at least £50m to sell: report

Manchester United Football Club have been in sublime form over the last week, though previous results simply cannot be brushed under the carpet.

Additions to the squad will be needed for this Red Devils team to conjure up positive results in games they’re supposed to be winning, and today a new name has been linked with an Old Trafford switch.

The story comes from The Athletic’s usually-reliable David Ornstein, cited by Read Norwich. They state that Man United are amongst the teams interested in the 21-year-old Englishman, Ben Godfrey.

Tottenham Hotspur are also keen, though Godfrey’s current club would demand at least £50million to part with one of their prized assets.

Godfrey enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship last term and has kicked it up a notch during his first Premier League campaign. There’s no doubt that he’s an improving player, though I personally feel he’d hinder the growth of Scott McTominay.

He and McTominay play a very similar style and our Scot has been in brilliant form this term. Surely it makes sense to prioritise other areas first?

The money in the game these days is going through the roof, hence why Norwich are within their rights to demand £50million for an up-and-comer like Godfrey. There’s no doubt he fits the mould that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for, but right now I feel as if there are better options out there…
