Man United are showing an interest in Bart Verbruggen.
Manchester United Football Club are moving in a positive direction under Erik ten Hag, though there’s still work to be done to turn this side into Premier League title contenders.
Slowly but surely, the dressing room is moulding into one that better suits Ten Hag’s style of play. After all, he’s only had one summer transfer window to make changes.
One position that certainly remains contentious amongst the supporters is goalkeeper. David de Gea is obviously a brilliant player within his own right. However, he cannot pass out from the back – something which Ten Hag would clearly prefer.
Several goalies have been linked with an Old Trafford switch this summer, including the likes of David Raya and Robert Sanchez. Well, Het Laatste Nieuws throw a new name into the mix; Bart Verbruggen.
According to their report, United are showing an interest in the 20-year-old goalkeeper, though the Reds will face competition from their fierce rival, Liverpool, for the signature of the player.
Verbruggen will cost the eventual winner of his signature around £10m, with the Dutchman currently plying his trade for Belgian club Anderlecht.
With each game, his stock continues to rise due to impressive performances.
For United, this move could be perfect. Verbruggen is someone who could come in, sit behind De Gea for a year or two, learn and potentially take over the starting job in future.
With this in mind, it’d allow Verbruggen to develop and grow until he’s truly ready for the role. I guess it all depends on whether the player would be happy to sit in for a couple of seasons before starting games regularly.
