Man United interested in Christian Eriksen, Dane wants England return: report

Man United seemingly have Christian Eriksen on their transfer radar.

Just less than a year after missing out on signing the Dane, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to try again.

After struggling to adapt to life in Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan system, Eriksen is looking to move on.

Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils are amongst the parties sniffing around. Thanks to Sport Witness for the translation.

United are named as being amongst the clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old, apparently, they’re ‘looking for him’ with Solskjaer trying to add a ‘regista’ to the squad.

What’s interesting is that it’s claimed England is the ‘preferred destination’ for Eriksen, who enjoyed on-field success during an excellent spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

CdS also state that United are ‘looking to exploit’ the strained relationship between Eriksen and Inter Milan.

So should United make their move?

There’s no doubting Eriksen’s ability. He’s a fine player who would bring an awful lot of quality to this United squad. However, at this point, I’m just not sure where he fits in…

Obviously, we have Bruno Fernandes who is arguably the best in the world at what he does right now. Factor in Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba, suddenly I struggle to see where Eriksen’s minutes would come from.

Unless you’re planning on playing Eriksen deeper, which seemingly Solskjaer is, then a move doesn’t make much sense. The fee and wages would have to be right to even consider this one. Even then, it seems like a gamble that just isn’t worth taking right now, particularly when there are other, obvious holes in this squad that need filling.
