Man United interested in Jeremie Frimpong

Man United are showing an interest in Bayer Leverkusen right-back, Jeremie Frimpong.

Manchester United Football Club have been in good form recently, with the Red Devils starting to show their capabilities under Erik ten Hag.

The Old Trafford club still have more room to grow, though it will take time. The gaffer needs a squad that fully buys into his system. That was never going to happen in just one transfer window.

It was clear over the summer that right-back was a position of need. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deemed surplus to requirements by the Reds’ new boss.

Diogo Dalot has done a stellar job, though it’s unfair to place the whole right-back burden on his shoulders. Enter, Jeremie Frimpong.

Apparently, the 21-year-old has emerged as a possible signing for the Reds, with Frimpong now ‘on the list’ of the Old Trafford club.

On top of that, United want a ‘high quality’ right-back in the winter window, with Frimpong seemingly identified as someone who could fulfil that role.

Check out Florian Plettenberg’s tweet on Man United interest in Jeremie Frimpong:

Frimpong still has a few years left on his current deal, while he remains a key player for the Bundesliga outfit as things stand.

All that says to us is that he’d cost a pretty penny. And I’m not sure United have those sort of funds available at this juncture. Don’t forget the club spent about £210m over the summer. Are the Glazers really going to throw more money at it in January? I have my doubts.

The only way I see some sort of Frimpong deal happen is if a club takes a punt on either Cristiano Ronaldo or Wan-Bissaka this summer, in order to free up some money.
